AHIA Australian Salon Business of the year 2020

The Australian Hair Industry Awards or A.H.I.A’s were launched in 2013 to provide the
Australian Hair Industry an award platform to celebrate the best of the best in business on a state by state basis, including individual and specialist categories.

After being named the AHIA state salon of the year WA/NT 2020, Circles were then announced as the top salon in the country winning Australia’s best hair salon for a third year in a row.

Since opening the doors of her first Circles of Subiaco salon in Perth in 1995, Sharlene Lee has seen many hair trends come and go. From humble beginnings, Sharlene expanded her business adding a second location, Circles in Fitzgerald, and today employs 35 staff across both premises.

Her success, according to the passionate salon owner, comes down to putting in the hours on the floor and good business planning. But in a year with unprecedented challenges, keeping her finger on the pulse of customer trends has given her business the edge to succeed. “It’s obviously been such a difficult year for hair salons and so many businesses have struggled, so it was bittersweet win” Sharlene

Business takes work and so does entering for an award. The submissions for AHIA was a 4- month process which consisted of in depth questioning about every aspect of the business and providing as much information as humanly possible.

“Being a salon owner in 2020 certainly has its challenges! Winning Australian salon of the year could not have come at a better time, we have all had our ups and downs but winning this is definitely the highlight of the year for the circles team. The support and love our team showed this year was simply outstanding and as a brand we were fortunate enough to have strong positivity, stability and growth in 2020. I absolutely love a good challenge when it comes to growing and surviving in business and that is why I fight for my dreams every day. We will use this win as a huge marketing campaign tool to grow the salon business even further.
