A senior colourist, an apprentice, a receptionist running a Saturday and a designer editing reels have almost nothing in common technically. What they need in common here is the same: turning up, listening properly, taking a correction without taking it personally, and caring how the back of someone’s head looks at 6pm on a Saturday. We hire for that and train the rest.
What you get back is a floor worth being on. For experienced stylists that means better work walking through the door. For everyone else it means the people teaching you are still pushing themselves.
If you are starting from scratch, our apprenticeships are built for exactly that: no industry experience needed. If you already have a column, we would rather talk about what you want to be doing in three years than what you did last week. All four roles use the same form at the bottom of this page.

Our all-inclusive Circles training program is built to take you from your very first shampoo through to working your own column. You learn on a real salon floor, alongside stylists who compete nationally, with structured in-house education running on top of your formal qualification. No industry experience needed. We are hiring for attitude, not a CV.

Best for: Organised people who are genuinely good with humans.
You run the floor: the diary, the flow, the first thing every client sees and the last thing they remember. Suited to people with strong organisational and customer service skills, ideally with experience overseeing salon or hospitality operations. It is a real career track here, not a stopgap.

Both salons are closed Sundays and public holidays. Late nights on Wednesday and Thursday mean the week works, and your weekends stay partly yours, which in this industry is not a given.
Saturday is the biggest, longest day of the week in any salon, and nobody does their best work running on a servo sandwich eaten standing up. Lunch is catered for the whole team, every Saturday, no catch.
The flexibility to do everything you love and nothing you don’t, if you are a colourist who does not want to cut, or a cutter who lives for restyles, we would rather build your column around that. Two very different salons, and working across both is an option for some roles.

Before you apply
Senior stylists and apprentices, always. Across two salons those spots open regularly and often at short notice, so we are permanently interested in hearing from good people. Front of house and graphic design and social media are different: they are smaller teams, so we hire for them as roles come up rather than continuously. Send your application anyway. It stays on file, and when one of those roles does open we go through what we already have before advertising.
A cover letter and a resume, both as PDFs. If you are applying for the graphic design and social media role, add a portfolio PDF as well. Keep the cover letter short and specific: which role you want, why Circles rather than any salon, and what you are like to work with. We would rather read half a page that sounds like you than two pages that sound like a template.
Every application that comes through the form gets read by a person. If your application fits something we have open, we will get in touch to arrange a chat, and for hands-on hairdressing roles that usually includes a practical trade test in the salon so we can see how you work and you can see how we work. Applications are kept on file, so if the timing is not right now it does not mean it will not be later.
We have two salons, Subiaco and Fitzgerald in Perth, and we will talk through which one suits you at interview. Some roles move between both. Tell us in your cover letter if one location works better for you.
No. Our apprenticeships are designed for people starting from scratch, and plenty of our team came in with no industry experience at all. What we look for instead is attitude: showing up, listening, taking feedback and genuinely wanting to learn the craft. If you have done a hair course, a school-based program or worked front of house somewhere, mention it, but it is not a requirement.
Yes. School leavers are one of the main groups we hire apprentices from. Apply through the form on this page and tell us where you are up to, whether you have finished school, are finishing this year, or are looking at a school-based apprenticeship.
Yes. Apprentices in Australia are employees, not students, so you are paid under the relevant award from your first day, and your pay increases as you move through the stages of your apprenticeship. Your exact rate depends on your age, your year, and whether you have completed Year 12, and we will walk you through it properly before you sign anything.
Australian hairdressing apprenticeships work towards a nationally recognised Certificate III in Hairdressing, completed through a combination of on-the-job training in the salon and study with a registered training organisation. Alongside that you get the Circles training program, our own structured in-house education that runs on top of the formal qualification.
Often, yes. Apprenticeships can usually be transferred to a new employer, and it happens more than people think. Apply through the form and tell us which year you are in and where you are training. We will talk you through what the transfer involves before anyone commits to anything.
